The Brown, Romilly, Barnes Legal Clinic is a non-profit legal clinic committed to improving access to justice for Black people and Black communities facing barriers to legal services. We provide legal information, referrals, advocacy, and community-based support to help individuals better understand and navigate legal and social service systems.
To support the continued growth of the Clinic, we are developing a roster of lawyers across all practice areas who are interested in contributing their time and expertise. Opportunities will vary based on community needs and may include direct client support, mentorship, public legal education, and other forms of service.
We invite interested lawyers to provide the following information:
Area of practice and areas of interest;
Practice status;
Year of call;
Ability to provide services remotely; and
Availability to support the Clinic.
Law students can gain valuable legal experience while increasing their awareness of community resources and building meaningful professional relationships.
Current opportunities include:
Mentorship;
Community workshops;
Legal information sessions;
Development of public legal education materials; and
General clinic support.
Supporting internationally trained lawyers is also a key priority of the Clinic.
Opportunities are designed to help participants:
Become familiar with Canadian legal resources and legal systems;
Gain Canadian legal experience;
Participate in community workshops;
Assist with legal information sessions;
Contribute to public legal education materials; and
Support clinic operations and community initiatives.
The success of the Clinic depends on the commitment and expertise of legal professionals who are willing to give back to the community. We welcome your involvement and look forward to working together to advance access to justice for Black communities.
Warm regards, Brown, Romilly, Barnes Legal Clinic
